The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an important update for all candidates appearing for the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) – 2026 Session 1. This notification serves as an advance intimation regarding the allotment of the examination city to help students plan their travel and logistics in advance.


Vacancy/Exam Description

The Joint Entrance Examination (Main) is a national-level competitive exam conducted for admission to undergraduate engineering (B.E./B.Tech), architecture (B.Arch), and planning (B.Planning) programs at premier technical institutes across India, including NITs, IIITs, and other GFTIs. It also serves as the eligibility test for JEE (Advanced).


Key Exam Dates & Shifts

The NTA will be conducting the Session 1 exams at various centers across India and in 15 cities abroad. Below are the specific schedules:

21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 January 2026

Paper 1 (B.E./B. Tech)

Shift 1: 09:00 AM to 12:00 Noon

Shift 2: 03:00 PM to 06:00 PM

29 January 2026

Paper 2A & 2B (B. Arch & B. Planning)

First Shift only: 09:00 AM to 12:30 PM

How to Check Your Exam City

Candidates can now download their Examination City Intimation Slip starting from 08 January 2026.

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/.

  2. Login: Use your official login credentials to access your dashboard.

  3. Download: Save and print your City Intimation Slip for reference.

Important Note: This document is NOT your Admit Card. It is merely advance information about the city where your center will be located. The actual Admit Card will be issued by the NTA at a later date.
