The Indian Air Force (IAF) has officially released the AFCAT 01/2026 Admit Card today, January 22, 2026. Candidates who applied for the courses commencing in January 2027 can now download their hall tickets from the official portal.

Vacancy Description

This recruitment drive aims to fill approximately 340 vacancies for Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officers. The positions are distributed across the Flying Branch (for those piloting aircraft) and Ground Duty Branches, which include Technical roles (Aeronautical Engineering) and Non-Technical roles (Administration, Logistics, Accounts, Education, Weapon Systems, and Meteorology). These roles offer a career as a commissioned officer with a starting stipend of ₹56,100 during training.

How to Download the Admit Card

Follow these steps to secure your hall ticket:

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to afcat.cdac.in.

  2. Candidate Login: Click on the “Candidate Login” tab and select AFCAT 01/2026.

  3. Enter Credentials: Log in using your registered Email ID and Password.

  4. Download: Click on the “Download Admit Card” link.

  5. Print: Verify all details (Name, Photo, Exam Centre) and print a color copy.

Note: You must carry a printed copy of the admit card along with a valid original photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN Card, Voter ID, etc.) and two passport-size photographs to the exam center.


Exam Schedule (January 31, 2026)

The exam will be conducted in two shifts. Ensure you check your admit card for your specific reporting time.

  • Shift 1: Reporting at 07:30 AM | Exam: 09:45 AM – 11:45 AM

  • Shift 2: Reporting at 12:30 PM | Exam: 02:15 PM – 04:15 PM

Vacancy Description

The AFCAT 01/2026 batch offers a gateway to become a Commissioned Officer in the Indian Air Force. Vacancies are available in the Flying Branch (Short Service Commission) and Ground Duty Branches (both Technical and Non-Technical). Technical roles focus on maintaining advanced weapon systems and aircraft, while Non-Technical roles cover logistics, administration, and accounts essential for airbase operations.

10-Day High-Impact Prep Strategy

Since time is short, focus on High-Yield Topics and Previous Year Questions (PYQs).

1. General Awareness (The “Quick Score” Section)

  • Defence GK: IAF commands, ranks, mottos, current aircraft (Rafale, Tejas), and recent joint exercises.

  • Current Affairs: Focus on the last 6 months (Awards, Sports, Summits).

  • Static GK: Important Articles of the Constitution, Indian Freedom Struggle, and basic Geography (Rivers & National Parks).

2. Reasoning & Military Aptitude (The “Maximum Score” Section)

  • Non-Verbal: Practice image-based questions (Embedded figures, Pattern completion, Dot situation). These are often easy but require speed.

  • Verbal: Venn Diagrams, Blood Relations, and Syllogisms.

3. Verbal Ability in English

  • Vocabulary: Revise Synonyms, Antonyms, and Idioms/Phrases from previous papers.

  • Grammar: Focus on Error Detection (Subject-Verb Agreement, Tenses, Prepositions).

4. Numerical Ability

  • Stick to basics: Percentage, Profit & Loss, Ratio, Average, and Time & Work.

  • Avoid starting complex new topics like Probability or Algebra if you aren’t already comfortable with them.


Daily Checklist for the Final Week

  • Take 1 Mock Test daily: Try to do this between 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM to align with your biological clock for exam day.
