JEE Main 2026: Photo Mismatch Advisory and New Verification Process
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has recently issued a critical public notice regarding the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2026 for candidates facing photograph mismatch issues during the application process. If you registered for Session-1 using identification documents other than an Aadhaar Card, this information is vital for you.
What is the issue? (The Problem)
Upon reviewing the online applications submitted between 31 October 2025 and 27 November 2025, the NTA observed that for several candidates, the live photographs captured during registration do not match the records available with UIDAI. This discrepancy can lead to difficulties during identity verification.
New Identity Verification Method
Initially, the NTA required an attested certificate from a School or College Principal. However, due to grievances regarding the accessibility of these authorities, the rules have been relaxed. You can now have your certificate attested by the following:

Class-I Gazetted Officers: Such as a Tehsildar, Revenue Officer, SDM, or DM.

Indian Embassy Officials: Specifically for NRI candidates.

School/College Authorities: Principal or Headmaster.
Important Dates and Process
Affected candidates must upload a signed and attested certificate featuring a recent photograph.

Submission Deadline: 15 January 2026.

How to Upload: Submit the document in PDF format via the specific link sent to your registered email ID.

Exam Day Instruction: You must carry a printed copy of this attested certificate to the examination centre for physical verification on the day of the exam.
