The Indian Air Force (IAF) has officially released the notification for Agniveervayu Intake 01/2027 under the Agnipath Scheme. This recruitment invites unmarried Indian male and female candidates to serve the nation in the Air Force for a four-year engagement period.
Online registration will begin on 12 January 2026 and close on 01 February 2026. The online examination is scheduled for 30 and 31 March 2026.
About Agniveervayu under Agnipath Scheme
The Agnipath Scheme is a new human resource model that allows young citizens to experience military life for four years. Selected candidates will be enrolled as Agniveervayu, a distinct rank in the Indian Air Force.
After completion of four years, up to 25% of each batch may be offered permanent enrolment in the regular cadre of the IAF based on organizational requirements and individual performance. However, there is no guaranteed retention.

Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit

Candidates must be born between 01 January 2006 and 01 July 2009 (both dates inclusive).

Upper age limit at the time of enrolment: 21 years.
Marital Status
-
Only unmarried male and female candidates are eligible.

Candidates must undertake not to marry during the four-year engagement period.

Female candidates must also undertake not to become pregnant during the service period.
Educational Qualification
Science Subjects
Candidates must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Mathematics and English with:

Minimum 50% marks in aggregate

Minimum 50% in English
OR
-
3-year Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Automobile, CS, IT, etc.) with 50% aggregate and 50% in English
OR
-
2-year Vocational Course with Physics & Mathematics and 50% marks.
Other Than Science Subjects

10+2 in any stream with 50% aggregate and 50% in English
OR -
2-year Vocational Course with 50% marks.
Candidates eligible for Science subjects may opt to appear for both exams in one sitting.
Medical Standards (Key Highlights)
Height

Male: Minimum 152 cm

Female: Minimum 152 cm (Relaxation: 147 cm for North-East & Uttarakhand hills, 150 cm for Lakshadweep)

Other requirements include normal hearing, healthy teeth (minimum 14 dental points), no permanent tattoos except permitted areas, and no history of LASIK/PRK surgery.
Pregnancy or gender reassignment surgery leads to disqualification.

Selection Process
Phase I – Online Test

Includes blood tests, X-ray, ECG, ultrasound (for females), and specialist assessment.
