Jharkhand Home Guard Recruitment 2026 (Deoghar District)
The Jharkhand Home Defense Corps, Deoghar, has released an official advertisement (No. 01/2026) for the fresh enrollment of Home Guards. This recruitment drive aims to fill positions for both Rural and Urban Home Guards within the Deoghar district.
It is important to note that the Home Defense Corps is a voluntary organization. Home Guards are volunteer members who are deployed for duty as per requirement, and they receive an allowance at rates fixed by the government for the days they are on duty. This is not a salaried government job or a permanent means of livelihood; it is intended for citizens willing to serve the nation selflessly.
Vacancy Breakdown
A total of 772 vacancies have been announced for the Deoghar district. The distribution is as follows:

Rural Home Guard: 634 vacancies.

Urban Home Guard: 138 vacancies.
Note on Reservations:

50% of the total posts in both categories are reserved for women.

Within the women’s quota, 5% of the posts are specifically reserved for qualified divorced, abandoned, or widowed women. If suitable candidates are not found in this sub-category, the seats will be merged back into the general women’s quota.
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for these positions, candidates must meet the following requirements as of January 1, 2026:
1. Residential Requirements

Rural Home Guard: Candidates must be permanent residents of the specific block in Deoghar district from where they are applying.

Urban Home Guard: Candidates must be general residents of the urban areas of Deoghar district.
2. Age Limit

Candidates must be between 19 and 40 years old as of January 1, 2026.
3. Educational Qualification

Rural Home Guard: Minimum 7th Class Pass.

Urban Home Guard: Minimum Matriculation (10th Class Pass).
4. Physical Standards (Common for both)

Male (General/OBC/BC): 162 cm.

Technical Proficiency (For Urban Technical Home Guards)
Candidates applying for the “Technical” category in Urban Home Guard must possess expertise in specific technical fields and be currently employed or self-employed in that sector. Eligible technical roles include:

Doctors, Engineers, Advocates, Professors, Nurses, Computer Operators, Typists, Licensed Drivers (HMV/LMV), Cooks, Carpenters, Cobblers, Washermen, Barbers, Electricians, Gardeners, Plumbers, etc.
Selection Process
The selection process involves several stages designed to test physical fitness, literacy, and technical skills.
Stage 1: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
This stage includes a 1-mile run, high jump, long jump, and shot put.

Stage 2: Hindi Writing Ability Test
Candidates who pass the physical test must take a Hindi writing test.

Standard: 7th level for Rural; 10th level for Urban.

Stage 3: Technical Proficiency Test (Urban Tech Only)
For those in the technical category, a proficiency test in their respective field will be conducted.

Additional Points
Additional marks are awarded for achievements in sports or higher education (for government servants applying for the 10% urban quota).

Sports (National Level): 1st (6 pts), 2nd (4 pts), 3rd (2 pts).

Sports (State Level): 1st (3 pts), 2nd (2 pts), 3rd (1 pt).

Education (For Govt Servants quota): Post-Graduation (10 pts), Graduation (8 pts), Intermediate (6 pts), Matric (4 pts).

Application Fee: ₹200 (Two hundred rupees). This must be paid through the online payment gateway during submission.

Requirements: Applicants must upload a recent color photograph and signature.

ID Proof: One of the following is mandatory: Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Driving License, or PAN Card.

Submission: Only one application per person is allowed; multiple applications will result in rejection. Applications can be submitted from any Pragya Kendra in the district.

Corrections: Errors in the application can only be corrected once before the fee is paid. No changes are allowed after payment.
Important Documents
All certificates (Educational, Residential, Caste, Technical, Sports) must be issued before the date of application. Residential and Caste certificates must be issued online. All uploaded documents must be self-attested.
Final selection is subject to document verification, medical examination, and police character verification. Successful candidates will undergo basic training at Ranchi before being formally enrolled.
